You Can Be "Old" & Fit

May 14, 2017

In honor of all the AMAZING MOMS out there, I'm sharing my mom's story AND offering a Mother's Day CASH BACK GIFT to any moms OR those who want to be moms (I know, we are TTC, I get it...) who want to jump start their health and fitness before Summer is upon! Message me for details!
.....

“Too old.”
“Too out of shape.”
“Too busy.”
“It will never work for me.”

These are all the excuses my 61-year-old mother could have used when I asked her if she wanted to try the 21 Day Fix and Shakeology with me. Before then I had NEVER seen her workout. You know those "walking moms" who walk around the neighborhood every night together? Yeah, that was NEVER my mom! Sorry, Mom, just telling the truth... She always talked about working out but she never made time for herself because all of us kids (6 of us! YIKES!) and our activities took up her time; growing up she was SO devoted to us. Well, she decided it was her time, at 60 YEARS OLD she was going to give this whole “working out” thing a shot.

In the beginning she was really intimidated by the workouts, but I told her to just start small and don’t even try to keep up with the people on TV. She used vegetable cans for weights in the beginning and she used the couch to help her get up and down while doing Surrenders. Eight weeks into the program she proudly told me that she was finally able to do Surrenders on her own, without using the couch! How cool is that?! Many of us would have given up, but not my mom! I WAS SO PROUD OF HER! She was surprising herself with her new found strength and it was so cool to see! Slowly, the vegetable cans turned into real weights and when I came home for Christmas she was doing FULL UP Renegade Rows!!!!! I about died!!!! Who was this lady?!

My mom had set a goal to lose 40lbs. By Thanksgiving she lost 30 lbs and 22.5 inches!! She was pleased but she refused to quit until she reached her goal. After the initial 30lbs, the weight started coming off slower and she even had some weeks where she didn’t lose any weight, but she NEVER GAVE UP. Nearly 8 months after she started her fitness journey, I received this text from Mom:

“I REACHED MY GOAL!!!!!!!! 40 pounds and 38 inches!!!!!!.....I have not been this weight for over 20 years or more!! Did not think it was possible!!”

Goosebumps. Happy tears. I’m so proud of her.

When I was begging my mom to let me share her story she told me that she almost didn’t take “before” pictures and that these “before” pictures were actually taken 10 days into her “fix”. She said that she had taken “before” pictures for other “gimmick programs” that had failed and she figured this program would be no different. BUT THIS TIME WAS DIFFERENT, A LOT DIFFERENT! This time was about real work. This time was about eating real food. This time was about real support. This time she was ready to change. This time she committed to the process. This time she changed her habits. This time she didn’t give up. This time she got incredible results. This time she changed her life.

I’m so proud of you, Mom! Thank you for trusting me to be your coach and thank you so much for letting me share your story!
